Biography

Dr. Irfan Essa is a professor in the School of Interactive Computing and an adjunct professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. He also serves as the director of off-campus initiatives for the College of Computing. Essa works in the areas of computer vision, computer graphics, computational perception, and robotics and computer animation. Specifically, Essa is interested in the analysis, interpretation, authoring, and synthesis of video, with the goals of building aware environments; recognizing and modeling human activities and behaviors, and developing dynamic and generative representations of time-varying streams. He has published more than 100 scholarly articles in leading journals and presented at numerous conferences on these topics.
